Wind Ridge Project Overview
WBI Energy Wind Ridge Pipeline, LLC (WBI Energy) is proposing to build, operate and maintain the Wind Ridge Pipeline Project. This project represents approximately 95-miles of 16-inch-diameter natural gas pipeline between a tie-in along Northern Border Pipeline Company’s existing mainline near Ashley, North Dakota, and a fertilizer production facility being proposed by CHS, Inc. near Spiritwood, North Dakota. The new pipeline facilities will transport natural gas to the proposed fertilizer plant for manufacturing agricultural nitrogen fertilizer.
As currently proposed, the new pipeline will not require the construction of a compressor station; however, WBI Energy will construct a meter station at the site of the plant. Mainline valves will be constructed every 10 to 12 miles and three pig launchers (a pig is an internal inspection tool) will be evenly spaced along the pipeline route. Northern Border Pipeline Company will construct and operate a meter station at the tie-in with their pipeline. The project map depicts the preliminary proposed pipeline route and the locations of some of these facilities.
The proposed pipeline would traverse McIntosh, Logan, LaMoure and Stutsman counties.
